The HSHS Girl's Track team delivered several big career Personal Records I qualifying 3 athletes for state and finishing in the upper half of the DGS sectional (7 out of 14). Agne Lukoseviciute threw a 9 foot PR of 112' 11" to place 2nd in discus. Rachel Arellano launched a 16 inch PR of 38' 9" to place 2nd in shot put. And, sectional champion Raquel Blumenstein dominated the triple jump.
Week of May 1st
The Hinsdale South Girls' Track Team finished 3rd at Friday's West Suburban Gold Outdoor Championship. Team scores were as follows: DGS 191, Morton 124, Hinsdale South 111, Addison Trail 42, Leyden 33, Willowbrook 31, Proviso East 24. The Hornets had two individual conference champions. Sarah Nwakudu in the triple jump and Rachel Arellano in the shot put.
Week of April 17th
The Hornets hosted the annual girl's track invitational and recognized 10 competing seniors. We thank Cheenie, Belle, Bridget, Sarah, Jewel, Kiara, Agne, Dejah, Kendal, and Payton for all they have done for our program. In the meet, Rachel Arellano won the shot and discus and helped the Hornets to a 3rd place finish.
Week of April 10th
The Hornets finished 5th out of 9 teams at the 27th devilette invitational won by OPRF.
Week of April 3rd
Hornets finished 9th out of 14 teams at the Plainfield North relays. The Triple Jump relay took first. Lead by a huge PR for Ugonna Nwakadu. Hinsdale South is now the meet record holders with 135-08.5!!!! Crushed the old record by a nearly one foot per girl !!!
Week of March 13th Hinsdale South placed a strong third place at the WSG indoor conference track championship. 13 different hornets achieved first team all conference recognition, including, Rachel Arellano, Raquel Blumenstein, Kayla Ramos, Shell Hampton, Maria Boulos, Sarah Nwakudu, Agne Lukoseviciute, Natalie Axelrod, Tia Miller, Kiki Twardosz, Ema Slajute, Neha Chinwalla, and Patrice Trzupek. This is the most first team all conference athletes in over a decade. The outdoor season starts Monday
Week of March 6th
The Hornets wrapped up their home indoor schedule with a convincing win. The hornets are now 19-5 indoors. Event winners included Emma Ririe in the 3200m, Kayla Ramos in the 300m, Tia Miller in the 55m hurdles, Sarah Nwakadu in the 200m and triple jump, Rachel Arellano in the shot put, and Cheenie Ayala with a PR in the high jump.
Week of February 20th
The Hornets ran well on Friday but we're not able to continue their winning streak. After winning their last 2 invitationals, HS placed 5th out of 12 teams. The team record is now 16 wins and 5 loses on the season. All events were relays so individual performances added together to get one score. The throw squad earned the only event championship. Narrowly edging out perennial power Conant HS, Rachel Arellano, Agne Lukoseviciute, Jewel Wiley, and Diamond Hargrove were outstanding. Neha Chinwalla was amazing in her two races and the high jump squad of Cheenie Ayala, Natalia Kurnyta, and Renata Macias out performed their seed heights. The Hornets host their next meet on Wednesday, March 8th at 5pm. Please come out and support this team.
Week of February 13th
The Hornets won their second consecutive invitational on Saturday as they tied Morton for trophy honors at the Willowbrook invite. Running their record to 10 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. The 4x 800m relay team of Neha Chinwalla, Shay Aver, Kiki Twardosz, and Ema Slajute continues to run well and collected another first place medal. Rachel Arellano and Raquel Blumenstein remain u defeated in the shot put and triple jump respectively, both are currently ranked in the top 10 in Illinois. Cheenie Ayala won her first high jump title of the year and Jewel Wiley threw a lifetime personal best to win the JV Shotput. Other top point scorerers for the Hornets were Shell Hampton, Kayla Ramos, Natalie Axelrod, and Maria Boulos. Competition Continues on Friday at the Plainfield North relays.
Week of February 6th
The hornets picked up their first trophy of the year by winning the York girls' track invitational Friday, February 10th in Elmhurst. Junior Raquel Blumenstein lead the way with 3 first place ribbons, capturing the long jump, triple jump and 400m dash. Rachel Arellano continued her winning form in the shot put with a lifetime best throw of 37 feet. The 4x200m relay team of Natalie Axelrod, Shell Hampton, Maria Boulos, and Kayla Ramos demonstrated near perfect hand offs and won their race by 100 meters. Other hornets with exceptional performance in their events were Neha Chinwalla, Peyton Locke, Ranesha's Graham, Latavia Latham, and Bethany Bahdouin. The hornets return to action Saturday, February 18 at the Willowbrook invite.
Week of January 30th
The hornets girls track team split their opening triangular meet on Saturday, February 4th, by defeating Benet and being outscored by Naperville Central. Event winners for South were Rachel Arellano in the shot put and the 4x800m relay of Ema Slajute, Shay Aver, Kiki Twardosz, and Patrice Trzupek.
