JV Hinsdale South JV Badminton finished their season with a quad beating DGS 8 – 0, tying with Fremd 4-4, and losting to DGN 1 – 7 before heading into their conference meet at the end of the week.
The conference meet was VERY competitive, with Hinsdale South tying Willowbrook for first place, both at 52 points. Because Willowbrook had more dual meet victories than Hinsdale South, the JV team ended up with a 2nd place conference finish. It was a very strong end to an awesome season!

Varsity This week started off with a tough match against Hinsdale Central. We came up short 7-8, but had greater focus and better play by the entire team. We continued with a wonderful senior night win against Downers South 13-2 and recognized our five seniors for their four years of dedication to the badminton program: Sonali Patel, Judy Yang, Claire Pomey, Imani Williams and Sam Hendrickson. We then conducted our “Friends and Family” night fundraiser on Thursday, where we raised $570 for One Step Children’s Oncology Services and Corbin’s Legacy, a group that helps elementary school children in need. We finished off the week with the most competitive badminton tournament in the state, the ABCD. We conducted another fundraiser at this tournament and we raised another $1400 for our two charities. The team also continued to play well and we finished 5th out of 16 teams.

The team attended OPRF on Friday night for a triangular meet, beating OPRF 14 – 1 and losing to Stevenson 3 – 11. At Saturday’s tournament at Lincoln Way West the team took 5th place with Rachel Ng placing 2nd in number one singles. Overall a week of tough competition for JV!

The Hornets were able to successfully defeat Hinsdale Central and conference opponent, Downers Grove South, thanks to outstanding performances from all team members. Congratulations to Amber Sanchez and Ingrid Soare for placing first in third doubles, Keelyn Cranley for placing second at fourth singles, and Danielle Wayman for placing second for first singles.

Although the tie breaker was not in their favor, the Hornets contributions pushed the team over the top to place for third.
Week of March 27th

Week of March 20th
Varsity The second week of competition for the Hornet Varsity Badminton season started off well with convincing wins against Leyden and Andrew High School. But then, the Hornets did not play their best badminton at the Spring Break Hornet Invite, coming in 3rd place out of 7 teams. It was a lackluster effort and the girls needed to learn how to “Play with their hair on fire!” We will use this tournament as a constant reminder of the obstacles that we will need to face as the season progresses.
JV The JV badminton team had their first conference win this week beating Leyden 14-1. They also had a huge sweep against Andrew High School beating them 15-0. JV ended the week with a third place finish at the Metea Valley Invite with Christina Prizgintas and Jessica Duan tying for 2nd place in number 1 doubles, Libby Trbovic and Kathleen Massa taking 3rd in number 2 doubles, and freshmen Sydney Huang and Kristina Martinet taking 3rd in number 4 doubles. Singles finishers included Dinah Chemmachel taking 2nd in number 3 singles, Nicole Tuska taking 3rd at number 2 singles, and Rachel Ng taking 2nd at number 1 singles. Congrats on a great week Hornet Badminton!

The team has continued to show great sportsmanship to opponents and teammates. Erica Cyrus has done phenomenal job advancing up the ranks in singles, but also continues to be a strong support system for her teammates.
