Full week of practice to prepare for out conference tournament at Lyons Township. Refining our skills and cleaning up our shots on goal. The Jv played Friday night against Hinsdale Central. They played a great second half but it just wasn't enough to pull in a win. Lily Bone, Devon Rospert, and Maggie Dunford showing great leadership in the water as our youngest crew. Allee Lafond representing our senior class showed great heart and effort in and out of the pool. Saturday morning the varsity played the York Dukes. We improved our game from a few weeks ago. Jessica Ostrowska, Ava Stukas, and Emily Adams showed great offensive skills while Jacky Haralamos, Megan McCabe, Sophia Belczak, and Sofia Koledin playing as our defensive specialists. Sofia Koledin stepping up and playing a confident game as our goalie. We look forward to our sectional game against Hinsdale Central.
Week of April 25th
The week of April 25th, as the weeks progress in the season we keep getting better and better. This week we played three games. St Charles East, Lockport, and Schaumburg. Each game we achieved our minor goals, we couldn't pull a win to take home. But the girls were excited celebrating our last home game and sending the seniors off right. During the weekend our JV traveled to our cross town rival, Hinsdale Central, to compete in three more games. We played some great completion and ended the tourney with an over time loss against Lincoln Way East 11-9. It was a great tourney and the girls are excited for conference and sectionals coming up in the next two weeks!
Week of April 18th
This week we only had two games but put up some great competition. Monday night we went against York High School. Playing against a conference team is always a pressure that we rev up for. Our Jv players getting out there and sticking with a well conditioned team swimming back and forth. Playing great defense and building great team work. Varsity played well and we learned to communicate more and more as the game went on. Wednesday night we only had a one level game against Argo High School. We lost by one in the final minutes of the 4th quarter. We passed the ball well and Gillian Allen had a great game in goal. While Megan McCabe and Briana Veselik played great defense. There are only a few weeks left in the season and we look forward to putting all of our skill together the finish the season strong.
Week of April 11th
This week we had some tough competition going against our cross town rival, Hinsdale Central. We played a great first quarter battling the game out. After sitting down and having a meal with the girls team from Central. This week unfortunately one of our games was cancelled but we capitalized on the extra practice to help us for our Friday game against Waubonsie Valley. Junior varsity player well and gave Waubonsie a great game, loosing by one. Varsity played a great game, moving the ball and taking advantage of our rebounds. We look forward to this next week as our conference tournament gets closer.
Week of April 4th The week after spring break i always tough to get back in to the swing of things. However our girls this week did a great job of bouncing back after having a week of practice and applying the skills to a game situation. We had three games this week, OPRF, Morton, and Hoffman Estates. The girls played a good game against each of the teams and we are improving each week. Junior Varsity winning against Morton was a big push for us as the season moves along. Some girls are playing both levels; Allee Lafond scoring in the varsity game on Friday. Sophia Belczak, Shannon Ferguson, and Jacquline Haralamos playing great defense on varsity and leading the Jv squad to a victory against Morton. As we move forward i am excited to see how the girls play against some tough competition. Monday, Wednesday, Friday games this week.
Week of March 21st
The season is getting on the way and the girls are improving individually and as a team. Tuesday we faced St Charles North, a tough opponent. We played some great defense and had some great opportunities to set up some great plays. Wednesday we traveled to Riverside-Brookfield, our junior varsity had played a great game moving the ball well and capitalizing on man up situations. Lily Bone, Maggie Dunford, and Devan Rospert really connected on man up situations. On Varsity we had a rough start but started working together and communicating. Gillian Allen had a great game making a lot of blocks. Thursday we faced Stagg and our Jv ran like a well oiled machine and bagged a win. Varsity started to ramp up the competitiveness and played a great 3rd and 4th quarter. Gillian Allen, Megan McCabe, and Briana Giese played great defense. Jessica Ostrowska left the game with an injury in the beginning of the second quarter but returned during the fourth quarter to finish up the game. We are looking forward to having a week of practice.
Week of March 14th
We have been progressing as the season gets into full swing. This past week we have faced Richards, Morton, Marian Catholic, and Lockport. Some of our best things from the games are our conversions on a man up situation. In the Richards game alone we were 6 for 6 on scoring in a man up situation. Megan McCabe leading the team in steals on varsity and Allee Lafond on junior varsity. Our team is getting to know each other in and out of the water increasing our team cohesion. We look forward to our games this week. Come out Tuesday and Thursday and watch us play St. Charles North (Tuesday) and Stagg (Thursday). Go Hornets!!
Week of March 7th
After our first week of games we have played some tough competition but we have our first win against Marian Catholic after the Northside Prep tournament. We are looking forward to the next week of improving our game and going against so good competition.
