Week of April 11
Varsity This past week was not so much about playing badminton as it was giving to others. The entire Hornet Badminton program set up a fundraiser last Friday (4/15) in the field house. We turned our annual “Friends and Family” night into a contest where friends / family / students could come in and challenge the current badminton team to a game of 10. Each game cost $5 and all the money raised will be donated to “One Step” which is an organization that helps kids with cancer and creates summer camp opportunities for them. Amazingly, the community came to out to help us raise over $1100 for this great cause! Congratulations to everyone involved. This event far superseded any competition that will occur this season and greatly over shadowed the match against Morton and the varsity and freshman tournaments over the weekend.
JV JV badminton continued their undefeated conference run with a 15-0 win against Morton this week. The highlight of our week, however, was challenging our friends and family to give to our fundraiser and come out to play us! It was a great turn out for an even better cause. We had the weekend free from a tournament but can't wait to take on Hinsdale Central and LWW this week!
