Week of January 4th
The boys had a really tough loss to Downers South on Friday on the varsity level with a final score of 91-95. The score absolutely did not reflect the great swims we had. Noteable swims of the day to Matt Sternik (Swimmer of the meet) and Ryan Kirin, Eric Wind and Matt McCormack (for breaking 2:00 in the 200 free) and Haddy Khatib, Danny Savage and Matt Delgado, Alex Schmid (4 season best times) and Danny Habbal, Justin Baron and Ethan Kane, Connor Haubenreiser and Jack Kurowski (season best in the 100 free), Jimmy Zhang and Cullen Gordon. Connor Kaplan-we missed you!!! Great Diving by Dawson Morford and special thanks to James Kiwiet for stepping up and adding to his diving by swimming for us as well. Saturday at the College Events Invite was a struggle; we were all tired and worn out from the dual meet against DGS. We had a solid 10th place finish, but were hoping for more. Eric Wing had a season best relay split for the 100 fly, Danny Savage split a lifetime best in the 100 free; both in the medley relay. Special mention goes to Sam Nilles and Justin Baron; both men stepped up and volunteered to swim events for athletes who were sick or injured. The meet would not have been possible without our JV team coming to time and help out for the day; really proud of you guys!
