Varsity The varsity squad started off the regular season with a win over Elmwood Park. The team dusted off some rust to pull out a win in 2 sets. The following day, the Hornets lost a hard fought match to Lemont. Across the two matches the Hornets were led offensively by Bella Farrare with 10 kills on 17 swings, and defensively by Payton Hallman and Jillian Ockrim with 15 digs each. The Hornets have two great opportunities this week with matches against University High School Chicago and De La Salle. This weekend, the hornets will travel to central to play in the Lady Tiger Classic in Olney, IL!
Sopohmore The sophomore volleyball team was excited for their first week of games. The team started with a team-bonding dinner at Falco's. It was an exciting time for the whole team to get together and share a meal. Overall, they played well during the week against Elmwood Park and Lemont High School. Randi Anderson and Kendall Buckels-Meen led the team. Randi showed great consistency and control at the outside, which is a new position. Kendall declared herself a prominent player at the libero position. On Saturday, the girls had a tournament, which allowed all players to get court time. The team was excited for Isabel Hilsen's first game, where she showed some great defensive plays. Lastly, Anabelle G was a dominant blocker in the front row. Freshman A It was an amazing week for Hinsdale South Freshmen A Volleyball! The Hornets started the week with a strong win against Elmwood Park and continued their momentum with an impressive victory over a tough Lemont team. The team showed excellent serve receive, strong serving, and solid determination throughout both matches. Every player contributed, stayed focused, and continued to battle for every point. Their teamwork, communication, and never-give-up attitude made this a week to remember. What a great start to the season—keep up the hard work, Hornets!
Week of August 17th
Varsity The varsity team started off a strong first week of practices, building both camaraderie and skill as we look forward to our first week of play. Charley Cook, Payton Hallman, and Emily Musil were elected as team Captains by their teammates, leading the way in preparing for matches against Elmwood Park and Lemont this week. Sophomore The sophomore volleyball team had a busy week of practice as they prepared for the season. The team is excited for their first matches against Elmwood Park and Lemont High School. We are excited to see how much growth the team will make throughout the season.
Freshman B Freshman B spent the week practicing and preparing for their first game of the season! The athletes are ready to take on Elmwood on Monday. We’re excited to see them put all their hard work into action!
