2026-2027 Danceline Highlights
Game 1: Friday, August 28
This week marked the official first home football game of the 2026 season as the Hornets took on Riverside Brookfield!
We kicked off the night with our Junior Hornet performances during halftime of the sophomore game. It was wonderful to welcome back such a large group of our Junior Hornets and see them proudly perform the routines they learned at our summer camp.
The varsity game was a special “Gold Out” in support of Cal’s Angels, a pediatric cancer organization. The school community came together in an incredible show of spirit and support, and the energy throughout the stadium was powerful. Our Danceline dancers were excited to be part of such a meaningful night.
Pregame, sidelines, and halftime all went smoothly for our dancers. At halftime, Varsity performed their UDA Home Camp routine, “Let’s Dance.”
It was a fantastic night for Hornet Danceline and an exciting way to officially kick off our football season!

Black & Gold Scrimmage: August 14, 2026
On Friday, August 14, the Hornet Danceline participated in the 2nd Annual Black & Gold Scrimmage, and we had a great time being back under the Friday night lights! 🖤💛
The Black & Gold Scrimmage is a great opportunity to recognize and celebrate all of our fall athletes while giving our Danceline team the chance to perform in front of our community before the start of the regular season.
Our dancers were able to practice their halftime performance, fight song, and sideline routines, helping us prepare for our first official home football game in just two weeks!

The Black & Gold Scrimmage is a great opportunity to recognize and celebrate all of our fall athletes while giving our Danceline team the chance to perform in front of our community before the start of the regular season.
Our dancers were able to practice their halftime performance, fight song, and sideline routines, helping us prepare for our first official home football game in just two weeks!

Teacher Institute Opening Ceremony: August 10
Hornet Danceline was honored to be invited to perform at the opening ceremony for District 86’s Teachers Institute Day! 🖤💛
While performing in front of the entire district can definitely be nerve-racking, it is such an honor and exciting opportunity for our dancers to showcase their talent and hard work for the entire District 86 community.
It was the perfect way to close out the summer and kick off the 2026–2027 school year! We are so proud of our dancers for stepping outside of their comfort zones and representing Hinsdale South with confidence and Hornet pride.
Welcome back, District 86 staff! We are excited for a great school year!

UDA Camp 2026: July 21-24, 2026
Hornet Danceline traveled to Northern Illinois University for four days of intensive dance training at Universal Dance Camp! We attend this camp every year as a team because it provides our dancers with incredible training opportunities while also giving us valuable time to build team bonds and create memories together.
We kicked off camp by competing in the Home Routine Evaluation, where we competed against other high school teams in our division. We are incredibly proud to announce that Hinsdale South earned 1st Place! 🏆
Throughout camp, dancers have the opportunity to earn blue, red, or white ribbons for the individual routines they learn—similar to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We are so proud that ALL of our dancers earned blue ribbons for their individual routines! 💙
The final day of camp brought another exciting accomplishment. Six of our Varsity dancers were named UDA All-American Dancers! Congratulations to:

- Morgan Metzger
- Leila Fulton
- Cate Johnson
- Alyssia Lu
- Laila Malik
We also want to give a special shout-out to Laila Malik, who received a UDA scholarship for her outstanding “Full Out” performance, and to Elaina Taylor, who received the “Pin It Forward” Award, recognizing her kindness, generosity, and positive impact on fellow dancers.
We couldn't be more proud of our dancers and all they accomplished at camp! We are excited to bring everything we learned back to the gym and continue preparing for an amazing season.

We had an incredible week hosting Junior Hornet Camp, welcoming 93 dancers from our surrounding community, ranging from Pre-K through 8th grade! This is a tradition at South spanning well over 25 years+.
We are excited to announce that we broke our Junior Hornet Camp record, surpassing our previous record of 92 campers. It was our largest camp ever, and we loved seeing so many young dancers join the Hornet family!
Throughout the week, dancers learned fun routines that they proudly performed for family and friends at the end-of-camp showcase.
Our Junior Hornets are also invited to join us at the first home football game of the season, where they will have the opportunity to perform at halftime of the sophomore game.

Tryouts 2026 : May 29, 2026
We are excited to welcome 24 dancers to the 2026–2027 Hornet Danceline family! We hosted tryouts on Wednesday, April 25, and are thrilled about the talented group joining us for the upcoming season. The team consists of 4 Freshman (Class of 2030), 6 Sophomores (Class of 2029), 9 Juniors (Class of 2028), and 3 Seniors (Class of 2027)
Junior Varsity and Varsity assignments will be announced following summer camp. Tryouts for the competition/winter season will be held at the end of October.
