Hinsdale South Danceline opened its competition season at Bremen High School’s IHSA invitational competition. Varsity competed against 18 other 2A routines and placed First for their “Shine Bright” Pom Routine and Third for their “Disco” Kick Routine.

Hinsdale South Danceline’s second competition of the season was at Bremen High School. Varsity competed against 22 other 2A Varsity teams; placing 10th for their Kick Routine and 14th for their Pom Routine. This week proved to be a disappointing week with major scoring discrepancies in comparison to previous competitions and team rankings. 1. Saturday, January 13, 2018: IDTA @ Clinton
Hinsdale South Danceline traveled to Clinton, IL for their first IDTA dance competition of the season. Junior Varsity finished in first place in the JV Pom Dance Division and qualified for the State competition. Varsity Kick finished first in AAA Kick Division and qualified for the State competition. In the IHSA category, Varsity finished 8th out of 18 teams.
Sunday, January 14, 2018: IHSA WSC Conference @ Glenbard West
The first West Suburban Conference IHSA Dance & Cheer Sectionals were hosted at Glenbard West. Varsity Danceline was the only 2A team within our conference, every other team competing was a 3A team; however South held their own, finishing 3rd out of 8 teams at Conference. 1. Saturday, January 20, 2018: IHSA Sectionals @ Geneva
Hinsdale South was assigned a difficult sectional at Geneva High School. Going into the day’s competition, it was a real possibility that we wouldn’t qualify for state. Hinsdale South ended up earning a bid to state, placing 6th out of 16 teams.

Friday, January 26, 2018: IHSA STATE
Hinsdale South has proudly advanced to IHSA State every year since the first year of competition in 2013. Every year we strive to make it to Day 2 (top 12 teams), this year we fell short of our goal, finishing 23rd at State. The four time defending 2A State Champions: Geneva were knocked off by Lake Zurich (making for the first ever IHSA Hip Hop Champions).
Saturday, February 3, 2018 IDTA @ Hononegah
Danceline Varsity finished first in AAA Pom and received a state qualifying score. Varsity also finished first in AAA Kick and received a state qualifying score. JV also finished first in JV Pom Dance and received a state qualifying score. Varsity and JV BOTH received the highest scores of the entire day (total of 42 routines). Freshman JV Member: Jacqueline Baur, was identified as a rising star for her outstanding performance in JV Pom Dance.
Saturday, February 10, 2018: IDTA Category State @ Springfield
For the first time ever, JV was allowed to travel with the Varsity team down to IDTA Category State Championship in Springfield, IL. JV finished 2nd in the JV Pom/Dance Category. Varsity took home First Place in BOTH AAA Kick & AAA Pom. This makes for the 8th Pom State Championship and the 5th Kick State Championship; total of 13 Category State Titles for Hinsdale South since 2010.
