Varsity The varsity boys golf team beat Proviso East on Tuesday 9/12 at Columbus park gc. Medalist was Payton Hultmark with a 39, other scores that counted were JR Rickert 42, Patrick Savage and Frankie Klemm 43.
Saturday 9/16 we finished 4/4 at Naperville Central invite medalist Colin Lyster 82, Payton Hultmark 86, JR Rickert 86 and Will Asmus 87.
Frosh/Soph On Tuesday the Hornets received a forfeit from Proviso East making them 5-0 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.
On Saturday the Hornets hosted the Hornet Invite at Carriage Greens Golf Course. The team scores were the following:
1st- York 327 2nd- Hinsdale South 335 3rd- Downers Grove North 336 4th- Willowbrook 376 5th- Addsion Trail 412 6th-Leyden 437
The Hornets finished 2nd out of 6 teams and shot a team total of 335. The Hornets were led by Charlie Gneiser who shot a 77; good for 2nd place overall and by Kyle Cattaneo’s 82; good for 5th place. Grant Blum shot an 85 and finished tied for 8th place. Sawyer Jones rounded out the team scoring with a 91; placing him 16th overall.

Varsity On Tuesday 9/5 boys lost to DGS 170-177, medalist Connor Madden with 42, other scores that counted Frankie Klemm 45, JR Rickert 46 and Colin Lyster 44. On Wednesday, 9/6 boys beat AT 165-185, medalist Colin Lyster 40, other scores that counted Will Asmus 43, CJ Drake 40 and Payton Hultmark 42.
On Saturday, 9/9 boys finished 17/23 at Providence Invite, medalist Colin Lyster with and 84, other scores that counted, Will Asmus 89, Graham Loughead 94 and Connor Madden 93.
Frosh/Soph On Tuesday the Hornets played conference rival Downers Grove South at Village Greens. The Hornets were victorious by a score of 181 – 184. Charlie Gneiser was the medalist of the meet; firing a 38. The Hornets are now 3-0 in conference. The four scores that counted in the team score were the following: Charlie Gneiser 38, Grant Blum 44, Kyle Cattaneo 47 and Sawyer Jones 52.
On Wednesday the Hornets hosted Addison Trail in a West Suburban Gold Conference meet at Carriage Greens in Darien. The Hornets were led by Charlie Gneiser and Grant Blum who each shot a 44 and earned co-medalist honors. The Hornets defeated Addison Trail (180-320) in a West Suburban Conference Gold meet and moved their conference record to 4-0. The four scores that counted in the team total were the following: Grant Blum 44, Kyle Cattaneo 45, Charlie Gneiser 44, and Sawyer Jones 47.
On Saturday the Hornets traveled to Itasca to play Salt Creek Golf Course. The Hornets finished 5th out of 6 teams and shot a team total of 154. The Hornets were led by the two man team of Grant Blum and Sawyer Jones who shot a 74. Beat Willowbrook at Sugar Creek on 8/31 144-171. Medalist Will Asmus 34, other scores that counted Colin Lyster 38, JR Rickert 36, Graham Loughead 36.

Grant Blum was the medalist of the meet; firing a 36. The Hornets are now 1-0 in conference. On Thursday the Hornets traveled to Villa Park to play Sugar Creek Golf Course. The Hornets were led by Kyle Cattaneo and Grant Blum who each shot a 39 and earned co-medalist honors. The Hornets defeated Willowbrook (166-182) in a West Suburban Conference Gold meet and moved their conference record to 2-0. The four scores that counted in the team total were the following: Grant Blum 39, Kyle Cattaneo 39, Charlie Gneiser 40, and Sawyer Jones 48.
On Saturday the Hornets traveled to Rolling Meadows to play Arlington Lakes Golf Course. The Hornets finished 10th out of 15 teams and shot a team total of 357. The Hornets were led by Grant Blum who shot a 79 and finished 16th overall. Tuesday 8/22 vs. Downers North… DGN 171 HS 187 Medalist Colin Lyster 43 at Downers Grove Golf other good scores, Frankie Klemm 47, Will Asmus 48 and Patrick Savage 49.
Saturday 8/26 Rolling Meadows invite finished 3rd out of 13 teams. Will Asmus 74 2nd place, Colin Lyster 75 3rd place, Connor Madden 84 27 place, Frankie Klemm 84 27 place
Frosh/Soph On Monday the Hornets traveled to Hinsdale and played Hinsdale Central at the Hinsdale Golf Club. (Est. 1898) The Hornets were defeated by a score of 152 – 180 but showed much improvement playing on a very tough course for the first time. Grant Blum played the last 5 holes 2 under par on his way to a 36. The four scores that counted in the team score were the following: Grant Blum 36, Sawyer Jones 44, Charlie Gneiser 46, Kyle Cattaneo 54.
On Tuesday the Hornets traveled to Downers Grove to play the historic Downers Grove Municipal Golf Course. (Est. in 1896; the Original Golf Club of Chicago) The Hornets were led by Kyle Cattaneo and Charlie Gneiser who each shot a 47. The Hornets lost to DGN by a score of 198-173. The four scores that counted in the team total were the following: Grant Blum 51, Sawyer Jones 53, Kyle Cattaneo 47, and Charlie Gneiser 47.
On Saturday the Hornets traveled to Joliet to play in the Porter Cup. This is a Ryder Cup format (6 holes of best ball, 6 holes of alternate shot, and 6 holes of scramble) that consists of 4 two man teams. As a team the Hornets shot 335 and finished 7th out of 15 teams. The Hornets were led by the two man team of Cattaneo and Gneiser who shot a 75 in the Ryder Cup Format to finish 6th overall. The four scores that counted in the team total were the following: Grant Blum and Sawyer Jones 79 Charlie Gneiser and Kyle Cattaneo 75 – 6th place overall. Week of August 14th
Varsity On Tuesday we lost to LT 176-160. Will Asmus was the medalist with a 40, other scores that counted toward our total where Colin Lyster with a 43, JR Rickert with a 47 and Graham Loughead with a 46.
On Saturday we beat OEHS in an 18 hole duel 330-341. Medalist was Graham Loughead with a 78, other scores that counted where Colin Lyster with an 81, will Asmus with an 86 and Frankie Klemm with an 85. Frosh/Soph The Hornets started out their season by hosting perennial state power Lyons Township at Carriage Greens on Tuesday 8/15. The Hornets were defeated by a score of 176-191. The young Hornets were led in scoring by sophomore Grant Blum who shot a team low 40. The four scores that counted in the team score were the following: Grant Blum 40 Charlie Gneiser 49 Sawyer Jones 50 Kyle Cattaneo 52
On Saturday the Hornets traveled to Countryside to play in a triangular meet with York HS and Lyons Township. Lyons Township won the triangular shooting 152, followed by York’s 160 and then Hinsdale South’s 175. The Hornets score of 175 was their lowest score in the last five years in this event. All nine of the Hornets who played in this JV event lowered their scores from Tuesday. The four scores that counted in the team total were the following: Grant Blum 37 Charlie Gneiser 46 Kyle Cattaneo 46 Sawyer Jones 46 The other Hornets that competed and their scores: Jiries Fakhouri 49, Nathan Pomey 54, Shyal Chander 56, Zac Lowery 64, and Emmett Savage 64.
Week of August 7th
Varsity Boys Varsity golf team got off to a great start. We had an excellent first week of practice. Our first tournament was on Friday, August 11. We placed 15/20 teams. Our team medalist was Colin Lyster with an 86 at Joliet Country Club. We are looking forward to a another great week with a big match vs. LT on Tuesday at Carriage Greens.
